ACTIVITY 3:

STUDY ON PROPOSALS

The INMAB project aims to define the functional model of the Rondes in the medium term. Therefore, a series of scenarios that respond to the chosen functional model have been determined. So far, three scenarios to be analyzed have been identified. Next, these scenarios and some particularity will be briefly described so that later, we can try to detail the measures or actions to be carried out in each one of them.

  • Continuist scenario: The Rondes as urban expressways. It responds to a mixed functional model, based on maintaining the current status quo of the Rondes. This scenario proposes that the Rondes continue to be a channel for vehicles mobility, as a fast route for the distribution of medium and long distance traffic, especially private vehicles, combined with a use of local internal mobility. On this model of use of the Rondes, it should be noted that passing traffic is important (19.5% of light trucks and 20% trucks). Perhaps this use, as a long distance route, is one that must be acted upon when defining the associated action measures, the general objective seems to be to increase capacity or at least, to avoid saturation of the motorway.

  • Ground-breaking scenario: towards a model of integration in the urban road. The intention is to change progressively the functional model of the Rounds, orienting towards its integration in the urban plot. The main difficulty is the trench layout of its layout, which would make this fusion with the urban plot difficult. In a first approximation, we understand that the specific measures of this scenario should focus on the management of demand (unlike the previous model that sought to improve capacity), favoring urban use over fast track.

  • Mixed scenario: application of each previous scenario, according to the section. This scenario can be presented for two clear reasons: the functional diversity of the Rondes according to the sections and the inability to undertake the previous scenario in an integral way.
