A brush cleaning system (BCS) is a water-free cleaning device with a combination of several electro-mechanic components operated by an electronic controller to remove dust over the solar panels. It works automatically by sensing its current status and by the predefined program.
Given the significant efficiency losses posed by dust fouling and the associated water footprint for cleaning the panels, we expect that our waterless electrostatic cleaning can provide an efficient and cost-effective approach for maintaining dust-free solar panels, contributing to sustainable operation of solar farms.
To reduce the impact of dust on solar panel surface, a robotic arm-based self-automated dust removal system was designed and developed using IR sensor. The proposed robotic arm was also capable of doing clean under different modes of operations based on day and night time along with temperature monitoring to avoid overheating.
