Can a wall hung storage cabinet be heated with a light bulb?

To tote these back and fourth for every project is not pracstical, so I came up with a solution that works well: a wall-hung storage cabinet that is heated with an ordinary light bulb. The bulb is controlled by a thermostat that allows me to set the ideal temperature for the inside of the cabinet.

I electrified the cabinet by using a candleabra base light socket; you can suit yourself about how you do this, but I added a 1N4004 diode in series with the bulb. This diode divides the voltage to the bulb in half, and so the power consumption. It has the effect of making the bulb last a teriffically long time.
